Cannes Film Festival: After his Palme d'Or, Jafar Panahi is "not at all" afraid to return to Iran

Hours after his victory at the Cannes Film Festival, dissident Iranian director Jafar Panahi said he was not at all afraid of returning to Iran.
Iranian director Jafar Panahi told AFP on Saturday, May 24, that he was "not at all" afraid of returning to Iran after receiving the Palme d'Or at Cannes for "A Simple Accident ," a political bombshell film shot clandestinely.
Asked if he feared this return, the 64-year-old filmmaker, who has been imprisoned twice in his country and was recently allowed to leave Iran but is still banned from filming, replied: "Not at all. We're leaving tomorrow."
